The focus of the event will be the Ministerial-level discussions and signature of declarations by Member States seeking to maintain the collaborative spirit achieved and building on the strength of Member States’ commitments.
At the Digital Day 2021, the EU Member States will be invited to act together in key areas where digital technologies can make a significant positive impact. This year, the focus will be on the following:
- The European Data Gateways Declarationlooks to tap into Europe’s potential to become a world-class data hub, by focusing on international connectivity through terrestrial and submarine cables, satellite communications and other vital data infrastructures.
- The EU Startup Nations Standard Declarationexpresses the political will and a commitment to act to ensure that all European startups and scaleups benefit from the best practices underpinning Europe’s and the world’s most successful startup ecosystems.
- The Declaration on a Green and Digital Transformationof the EU sets out a number of concrete actions to mobilise investments in clean and digital technologies to speed up climate action, help create jobs and growth and allow Europe to come out from the COVID 19 crisis stronger, greener and more resilient.
In an additional declaration by industry on Green Digital Coalition, CEOs of lead companies will declare their commitment to specific actions to accelerate the ICT sector’s transition towards a decarbonised, circular and zero pollution economy while at the same time contributing to an innovative, sustainable and resilient society and economy.
This year, the Digital Day will be followed by an event dedicated to Startups in the afternoon of 19 March 2021 – Startups & Tech in Europe – a virtual conference on standards, sustainability and connectivity.
