With so much at stake in the Oceans Agenda, the United Nations family in South Africa, the Embassy of Portugal, and the High Commission of Kenya joined together to raise awareness to the 2nd UN Oceans Conference (UNOC) with an event on Monday, 21st February, at 11h00am (SAST).
The 2nd UN Oceans Conference (UNOC) co-presided and co-hosted by Portugal and Kenya, will take place from 27th June – 1st July 2022 in Lisbon. Participation at UNOC is open to civil society (https://www.un.org/en/conferences/ocean2022/participate) and registration is possible this month (https://indico.un.org/event/31890/ ).
The UNOC awareness-raising event in Cape Town takes place in the margins of an international scientific meeting co-organized by Portugal and South Africa, under the title “Eureka meets the Atlantic”, in the framework of the Eureka Portuguese Presidency 2021-22 (https://eurekaportugal2021-22.pt/eureka-meets-the-atlantic-02/) and as part of a series including also events in Lisbon, Boston, Rio de Janeiro, and Oslo.
