The European Commission is expected to launch the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities on the 29th September, along with the other four Horizon Europe Missions. The two objectives of the Cities Mission are 1. to achieve 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030 and 2. to ensure that these cities act as experimentation and innovation hubs to put all European cities in a position to become climate-neutral by 2050. You can find all information about the preparatory phase of the Cities Mission here.
On the 29th September, the European Commission plans to adopt a Communication on EU Missions, and we will publish the Cities Mission Implementation Plan.
The European Commission is organizing an open Webex discussion on Friday 1 October, 10:00 to explain how the Mission will work and how cities will be able to become part of it. This will be followed by a Questions and Answers session.
