Portugal captured 10% of the European funding allocated in the SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020-2 call
The European Commission approved 23 of the 454 proposals received in the 5 topics of the “SC1-PHE-CORONAVIRUS-2020-2 call: Advancing knowledge for the clinical and public health response to the 2019-nCoV epidemic”.

Portugal will coordinate two proposals under the topic Medical technologies, Digital tools and Artificial Intelligence analytics to improve surveillance and care at high Technology Readiness Levels. Portugal is also represented in consortia of all the other call topics, in a total of 16 entities, with a total funding of12.4 million euros of the 128 million financed by the Commission.

The two projects with Portuguese coordination ICU4CovidCyber-Physical Intensive Care Medical System for Covid-19, from UNINOVA, and the INNO4COV-19 Boosting Innovation for COVID-19 Diagnostic, Prevention and Surveillance, from the Iberian International Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), are both from the Digital Health area, in which Portugal has already shown a good performance during the Europeanframework programme Horizon 2020 and for which growth is expected for Horizon Europe.
