The PERIN – Portugal in Europe Research and Innovation Network has been promoted since 2019 to adopt a national strategy in 2021-2027, to double the Portuguese participation in European Programmes compared to 2014-2020, and to attract approximately two billion euros of European Union funding in the areas of Research and Innovation, as well as to triple student mobility in Higher Education.
The aim is to better mobilise public and private resources, in particular, through European Union funding programmes in the areas of Research and Innovation, Erasmus, Space and Digital, which will allow to reinforce excellence in these national areas, as well as better affirm Portugal at European and international levels and to strengthen public and private investment in R&D.
