The European Commission announced a plan of measures to fight the new SARS-CoV-2 variants, the HERA Incubator: Anticipating together the threat of COVID-19 variants. The HERA Incubator plan includes a total of €120 Million for R&I projects in the following areas:

Infrastructures

It foresees to further fund the development of infrastructure for open data sharing and infrastructure services for rapid response to epidemics, especially for detection and assessment of variants.

Cluster Health

It will also provide further support for the development of large scale, international/worldwide COVID-19 cohorts, and the conduct of vaccine and therapeutic trials, as well as observational studies, to further inform public health policy and clinical management.
