MEPs approve new Erasmus+ programme

On Tuesday, May 18, MEPs approved the edition 2021-2027 of the main European Union program for education, training, youth and sport, the Erasmus+ Program.

As we have been announcing Erasmus+ is now more open, greener and more inclusive. This program, which has been demonstrating its importance in promoting European identity, will have almost twice the budget for the period 2021-2027. There are about 28 billion euros that will come from the most diverse sources.

We emphasize that MEPs managed to secure, in the final stage of negotiations with the Council, an additional 1.7 billion euros for funding.

During the plenary debate, which you can watch here, before the approval of the program, most speakers highlighted that COVID-19 affected the lives of young people and underlined the importance of the program for future generations, recalling that Erasmus + is considered by citizens as the most successful program in the European Union.
