After approval at the Meeting of the Council of Ministers, Council of Ministers resolution No. 115/2021 was published today, extending the mandate of the National Agency for the Management of the Erasmus+ Education and Training Program.
This resolution maintains the powers of the Erasmus+ Agency in the management of the Erasmus+ Program in the areas of Education and Training, such as ensuring the management of the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 Program in Portugal, ensuring the management and execution of the activities still in force in the previous programs in the fields of education and training and the closing of the financial agreements related to the Erasmus+ Education and Training Program of the Erasmus+ Program for 2014-2020 and the Europass Initiative, but it brings two novelties, supporting the internationalization of education and vocational training in order to encourage the constitution and participation in European networks of education and vocational training institutions, in particular in line with the objectives of the ‘European Universities’ Initiative, as well as to enhance the international attractiveness of vocational education and training institutions and the implementation of measures to support the strengthening of the accommodation in higher education, under the terms provided for in the National Plan Accommodation for Higher Education Students, including the support and monitoring of national and European, public and private funding lines for this plan, namely those provided for in the Recovery and Resilience Plan for Portugal.
The resolution, which takes effect on January 1, 2021, further defines the agency’s internal operating structure and provides for a gradual increase in its staff until 2026.
