Horizon Europe Sneak Peek – Pillars II & III
Pillar II - Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness & Pillar III - Innovative Europe | 8th - 19th February 2021

After the Horizon Europe launching event on February 2nd, the National Innovation Agency (ANI), in collaboration with the other agencies of the PERIN network, will organize, between 8th and 19th of February, the Horizon Europe Sneak Peek dedicated to Pillar II (Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness) and to Pillar III (Innovative Europe).

8 February, 14h30 -16h30 – Opening session

Horizon Europe Sneak Peek – Pillars II & III – General session introducing the Horizon Europe framework focused on Pillars II and III

An overview of Horizon Europe, focusing on the new Framework program for R&I, namely Pillars II (Global Challenges and European Industrial Competitiveness) and III (Innovative Europe), including the structure, way of operation, missions, and partnerships. This session will be supported by a discussion panel made up of speakers with experience of participating in the Framework Programs and who will share their vision and perspective on the main challenges of the Horizon Europe framework.

9 February, 10h00 -12h30 – Thematic Session

Horizon Europe Sneak Peek – Pillar II – Cluster 4: Digital, Industry and Space + DEP + CEF

An overview of the new Horizon Europe framework, and presentation of Cluster 4, addressing the topics of digital transformation and digital technologies, industry, and space; followed by the presentation of the DEP (Digital Europe Program) and CEF (Connecting Europe Facility) programs. After the presentation there will be a brief discussion with stakeholders on the HE programme.

9 February, 14h30 -16h30 – Thematic Session

Horizon Europe Sneak Peek – Pillar II – Cluster 2: Culture, Creativity and Social Inclusion

An overview of the new Horizon Europe framework, and presentation of Cluster 2, addressing the topics of culture, creativity and social inclusion, in the context of policy, democracy, governance, and socio-economic transformations; followed by a discussion of how to start preparing a project proposal in these areas.

10 February, 10h00 – 11h30 – Thematic Session

Horizon Europe Sneak Peek – Pillar II – Cluster 3: Civil Security for Society

An overview of the new Horizon Europe framework, with a special focus on the topic of civil security for society within the scope of Horizon Europe, namely, the fight against crime and terrorism, border management, infrastructure, cybersecurity, resilience to disasters; followed by a round table discussion with entities experienced in participating in Horizon 2020, on these themes.

10 February, 14h30 – 16h10 – Thematic Session

Horizon Europe Sneak Peek – Pillar III – Innovative Europe (EIC, EIE e EIT)

Innovation will be supported across the whole HE program, but it is in the third pillar that activities for creating new markets and support for SMEs with breakthrough and disruptive innovation potential are concentrated through the creation of the European Innovation Council (EIC). The EIC will enhance the European innovation ecosystem and function as a one-stop-shop for innovators with great potential. Pillar III will have 3 main programs:

– European Innovation Council (EIC)
– European Innovation Ecosystems
– The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)

11 February, 10h00 – 11h30 – Thematic Session

Horizon Europe Sneak Peek – Pillar II – Cluster 6: Food, Bioeconomics, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment

An overview of the new Horizon Europe framework, and presentation of Cluster 6, focused on the topics of the agri-food chain, bioeconomics, natural resources, and the environment. Some topics for discussion will be the Food, Agriculture and Forestry, Sea, Environment and Natural Resources, Circular Economy and Bioeconomy value chain.

11 February, 14h30 – 16h30 – Thematic Session

Horizon Europe Sneak Peek – Pillar II – Cluster 1: Health

An overview of the new Horizon Europe Framework Program, and presentation of Cluster 1, entirely focused on the topic of health. Some topics of discussion will be the opportunities for the health area in the Horizon Europe, as also how to participate in Horizon Europe under this topic, including in the Cancer Mission. During the session, the Cluster 1: Health program and a framework will be introduced, as well as the relevant European partnerships and Cancer Mission.

12 February, 10h00 – 11h30 – Thematic Session

Horizon Europe Sneak Peek – Pillar II – Cluster 5: Climate, Energy, and Mobility

An overview of the new Horizon Europe framework, focusing on new challenges in the areas of Climate, Energy, and Mobility. After the presentation there will be a brief discussion with stakeholders on the HE program.
