Portugal will coordinate two proposals under the topic Medical technologies, Digital tools and Artificial Intelligence analytics to improve surveillance and care at high Technology Readiness Levels. This was the most competitive topic (221 proposals submitted) and Portugal succeeded to capture 20% of the allocated funding, though.
Portugal is also represented in consortia of all the other call topics, in a total of 16 entities, with a total funding of12.4 million euros of the 128 million financed by the Commission.
The two projects with Portuguese coordination ICU4Covid – Cyber-Physical Intensive Care Medical System for Covid-19, from UNINOVA, and the INNO4COV-19 Boosting Innovation for COVID-19 Diagnostic, Prevention and Surveillance, from the Iberian International Nanotechnology Laboratory (INL), are both from the Digital Health area, in which Portugal has already shown a good performance during the Europeanframework programme Horizon 2020 and for which growth is expected for Horizon Europe.
