The first European Innovation Council calls worth €1 billion are now open
The European Commission opened the EIC program's Accelerator and Pathfinder calls. The funding worth over €1 billion is available under the first EIC Accelerator calls, additional €168 million under the EIC Pathfinder programme.

The EIC Accelerator funding aims to support the development of start-ups and small and medium-sized companies with the potential to achieve a high impact. Although more than half of the available funding is open to revolutionary innovations in any field, € 495 million is set aside for innovations that support the European Green Deal, as well as digital and healthcare technologies.

Applications to the EIC Accelerator are open continuously. The Accelerator provides substantial financial support:

– Non-refundable grants up to € 2.5 million for innovation development costs and,
– Equity investment (direct capital investment) up to € 15 million by the EIC Fund for scaling up and other relevant costs.

In addition, EIC selected companies receive coaching, mentoring, access to investors and corporates, and many other opportunities as part of the EIC community.

Interdisciplinary research consortia can apply for innovation grants at the EIC Pathfinder. Grants vary between 3 and 4 million euros. The first application due date is 19 May.
